"A WebQuest is a scaffolded learning structure that uses links to essential resources on the World Wide Web and an authentic task to motivate students’ investigation of a central, open-ended question, development of individual expertise and participation in a final group process that attempts to transform newly acquired information into a more sophisticated understanding. The best WebQuests do this in a way that inspires students to see richer thematic relationships, facilitate a contribution to the real world of learning and reflect on their own metacognitive processes."

for me a webquest is an academic tool that teachers use to assign activities or tasks to students in which they make use of internet resources to solve a real messy problem, also a webquest is formed by six essential components that structure the activity and they are useful to organise students at the time of working, these six components are: (introduction, task, resources, process, evaluation, conclusion), it could be use to teach many topics of different subjects and it is an interesting way of teaching and learning.
some advantages a WEBQUEST has are:
* They are an easy way for teachers to begin to incorporate the Internet into the language classroom, for example.
* it allows students to share their knowledge between them.
* webquests are interdisciplinary, allowing for crossover into many departments and subject areas.
*Learners are not able to simply regurgitate information they find, but are guided towards a transformation of that information in order to achieve a given task.
disadvantages:
* students can get confused with some points at the time of working.
* teacher have to be very clear at the time of giving instructions to students to achieve the aim they want.

Hey Mixie!
ResponderEliminarI like your blog! So I think this kind of webpages as you mention are used to provide task to students, and I also think that we can use it as a classroom online.
In addition, I would like to say that your posting is very interesting and so organized.

Alex

HI Mixie...
ResponderEliminar1 more opinion about your blog,I like the way that you express the definition of this concepts.
According with the task of this week,I just want to say that a webquest is for us a new learning model used for students for developing thinking skills. Also webquest use several strategies to increase students motivation, and this is a good way to encourage students to learn and improve their skills.
Nice weekend.
Sincerously: Maryjo
Hi Mixie,
ResponderEliminarI agree with you. I also believe that everything has advantages and disadvantages. Unfortunately anything is perfect. I think the biggest disadvantege is that students do not learn as much as they do in a classroom. Most of the students just copy and paste. This is why I don`t think teaching on-line is a good idea at all, do you agree with me?
Regards,
Ulises
I like the design of your blog. Nice colors.
